[in]operabilities

[in]operabilities is an artistic research project in contemporary music theater and links the art form of opera with the question of its accessibility. In the canon and cosmos of opera, artists and interdisciplinary researchers search for forms of multi-sensory music-making and the usefulness of „opera-abilities“ for encounter, intimacy and our shared everyday life. Over the course of three years, theatre productions are created that are accompanied by intensive research, collegial exchange, networking, laboratories and workshops.

[in]operabilities was initiated in 2021 by Benjamin van Bebber, Leo Hofmann, Franziska Henschel and Jeanne Charlotte Vogt, and is supported by the Fonds Darstellende Künste (Performing Arts Fund) with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media and by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Department for Culture and the Media.
